In-App Notifications

The bell icon in the navbar shows a count of unread notifications. Click it to open geekhub.in/notifications.

You receive a notification when:

  • Someone comments on your post
  • Someone replies to your comment
  • Someone upvotes your post
  • Someone @mentions you in a post or comment
  • A message request is accepted
  • A community application you submitted is approved or rejected
  • An event reminder fires (if you set one)

Notifications are marked as read when you open the notifications page. Click any notification to go directly to the relevant post, comment, or conversation.

Email Notifications

Email notifications are controlled per-type in Settings > Notifications. You can turn off specific types without disabling all email.

The weekly digest (sent every Monday at 9am IST) is a single email covering:

  • Top 5 community posts from the past week
  • Up to 3 recent blog articles

To unsubscribe from the digest only, turn off the Weekly digest toggle in notification settings. You'll still receive other email notifications if they're enabled.

All marketing and digest emails include an unsubscribe link at the bottom that goes directly to /settings/notifications.

@Mentions

Type @username in any post body or comment to mention another user. They receive an in-app notification (and an email if that toggle is on). Mentions link to the mentioned user's profile.

Autocomplete suggestions appear as you type @ - select from the dropdown or keep typing to narrow results.

Bookmarks

Saving a Post

Click the bookmark icon on any post card (on the home feed or inside a post) to save it. The icon fills in to show the post is saved. Click again to remove the bookmark.

You do not need to visit the post page to bookmark it - the icon is available on the post card in the feed.

Viewing Saved Posts

Go to geekhub.in/bookmarks (or use the navbar dropdown > Saved Posts) to see all your bookmarked posts in one place.

Bookmarks are private - only you can see what you've saved.

Removing a Bookmark

Either:

  • Click the filled bookmark icon on any post (in the feed or on the post page)
  • There is no bulk-remove option; bookmarks are removed one at a time

Drafts

Drafts are unfinished posts saved automatically while you write.

  • Drafts save every 30 seconds once you've entered a title and category
  • Access them at geekhub.in/drafts (navbar dropdown > My Drafts)
  • Drafts are private and not visible to anyone else
  • Publishing a draft removes it from the drafts list and posts it to the feed
  • You can delete a draft at any time from the drafts page
