Events

The Events section at geekhub.in/events lists hackathons, meetups, workshops, and online events relevant to Indian developers.

Browsing Events

The events page has two views:

  • List view - all upcoming events sorted by date
  • Calendar view - click any date to see events on that day

You can filter by event type: In-Person, Online, or Hybrid.

Event Details

Each event card shows:

  • Title, organizer, and date/time
  • Location (city or "Online")
  • Type badge (Hackathon, Meetup, Workshop, Conference, Webinar)
  • Current RSVP count and capacity (if set)

Click any event to open the full detail page with the complete description, agenda, and RSVP button.

RSVPing to an Event

You need to be signed in to RSVP. On the event detail page:

  1. Click RSVP to register your attendance
  2. Your name appears in the attendees list
  3. Click Cancel RSVP to remove yourself

If an event has a capacity limit and it's full, the RSVP button will be disabled. RSVPs are blocked for cancelled or completed events.

Reminders

On the event detail page, click Set Reminder to receive an email notification before the event starts. Click again to remove the reminder.

Reminders are sent via email to the address on your GeekHub account. Make sure your notification preferences are enabled under Settings > Notifications.

Creating an Event

You need a GeekHub account to create events. Go to geekhub.in/events/new.

Required fields:

  • Title - clear and specific (e.g., "React Mumbai Meetup - April 2026")
  • Description - what the event is about, agenda, what attendees should expect
  • Event type - Hackathon, Meetup, Workshop, Conference, or Webinar
  • Format - In-Person, Online, or Hybrid
  • Start date and time

Optional:

  • End date and time
  • Location - venue name and city for in-person events
  • Registration URL - link to an external form (e.g., Meetup.com, Unstop, Townscript)
  • Max attendees - set a capacity limit; RSVPs stop once it's reached

Managing Your Events

From the event detail page, the organizer sees an Edit button. You can update any field, change the status (upcoming, ongoing, completed, cancelled), or delete the event.

If you cancel an event, attendees who RSVPed will not receive an automatic notification - post an update in the description explaining the change.

Event Status

StatusMeaning
UpcomingEvent hasn't started; RSVPs open
OngoingEvent is live right now
CompletedEvent has ended
CancelledEvent was cancelled; RSVPs closed

Tips for Organizers

  • Be specific about the format - "Online via Google Meet" is more useful than just "Online"
  • Include a registration link if you're using an external platform - many events need sign-up beyond just RSVP on GeekHub
  • Post early - events listed well in advance get more RSVPs
  • Update the description if plans change - it's better than leaving attendees guessing
