STAR Method Validator

Every experience bullet shows a live S-T-A-R indicator showing which elements (Situation, Task, Action, Result) are present. Green = present, grey = missing.

Tips for a High ATS Score

  1. Add the JD - Keyword matching is 30% of the score. Always paste the target JD.
  2. Quantify bullets - "Reduced latency by 40%" beats "improved performance"
  3. Action verbs - Every bullet should start with Led, Built, Reduced, Launched, etc.
  4. No buzzwords - Remove "team player", "hard worker", "passionate"
  5. No personal pronouns - No "I", "me", "my" in bullets or summary
  6. Complete contact info - Email, phone, LinkedIn URL, location (4 fields = 10pts)
  7. 3+ bullets per role - Each role needs at least 3 bullets for full section score
  8. Consistent date format - Use the same format throughout (e.g. "Jan 2022" everywhere)

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data private? Resume data is saved to your GeekHub account only. It is never shared with third parties. Public share links must be explicitly enabled.

How is this different from the original Resume Builder at /resume? The Labs builder has AI generation from JDs, real-time ATS scoring, STAR validation, Hiring Manager view, profile prefill, cloud save, and more. The original builder is a simpler template-based tool.

Can I have multiple resumes? Yes. Click your resume name in the sidebar to open the resume manager. Create as many versions as you need for different target roles.

What does "ATS-safe" mean for templates? ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) parse your resume as plain text. ATS-safe templates use single or two-column layouts with no images or tables that would confuse parsing. All templates except Creative Bold are ATS-safe.
