Leaderboard & Reputation

GeekHub's reputation system reflects your contributions to the community over time. It's not a gamification layer - it's a signal to other members of how active and helpful you've been.

The Leaderboard

The leaderboard ranks all users by total reputation points. It shows:

  • Username and avatar
  • Reputation score
  • Current rank badge

The leaderboard is public. If you'd prefer not to appear in it, go to Settings > Privacy and turn off Show in leaderboard.

Reputation vs. Trust

Reputation is a public number. It doesn't grant special platform permissions - all members can post, comment, and vote regardless of score.

Higher reputation is a social signal: other members can see you've been contributing for a while and people have found your posts useful. It's useful context when evaluating advice or job-related posts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why didn't my score go up after I posted? Posting itself doesn't earn points - only upvotes on your post do. Publish quality posts and engage with comments to build reputation over time.

Can I lose reputation? If you delete a post or comment, the upvotes it received are removed and your score adjusts accordingly. There are no other ways to lose points currently.

Is the score reset periodically? No. Reputation is cumulative and permanent unless you delete your content or account.

Does reputation affect my ability to post or comment? No. All authenticated users have the same posting and commenting rights regardless of reputation score.
